Function Specific
The following basic maintenance and safety plan is
a guideline and can be amended or changed depending
on your individual company needs. This policy is presented
as a basic take-off point for your fleet so you can
be in compliance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety
Rules and Regulations. This will assist you in being
in compliance with Part 396.
A-Inspection 12 month OR 25,000 miles inspection
B-Inspection Inspection for large diesel vehicles:
1. Regular servicing 10,000 miles
A-Oil and Fuel filters
B-Belts and Hoses
C-Lights and Reflectors
D-Brake pads and Adjustments (slack adjusters)
E-All glass, including mirrors
F-Rears, Check for grease and change same at 8-12
months
G-All reflectors and reflector tape
H-All tires, for tread depth and alignment
C-Inspection Rest of the Fleet, Gas Vehicles,
12 month or 25,000 miles
1. DOT Inspection Full
2. Regular Servicing at 5,000 miles
3. Follow same as for Diesel Inspection 1
4. Change all belts 30,000 to 50,000 range
5. Flush and change anti-freeze and hoses 3 yrs or
25,000 miles minimum
6. Rotate tires every 2nd servicing
