Hours of Service (HOS)
The
Hours-of-Service rules are starting to rival our tax code in complexity.
Most operators are overwehlemed with the notion that but the more
they try to make sense of the rules, the more confused they get. In
this case, ignorance of the law will cost thousands of dollars in
fines and lost revenue.
The Impact of HOS
Carriers that violate this EOBR requirement would face civil penalties of up to $11,000 for each offense. Noncompliance would also negatively impact a carrier’s safety fitness rating and DOT operating authority. It is clear that the FMCSA will target interstate carriers with serious patterns of HOS violations.
